イギリス中で行われているように、ここヨークでも日本から届く地震や津波、そして放射能の問題についてのニュースを、恐怖を感じながら見ています。
私たちは、ここ数日メディアが報じる日本の皆さんの品位ある行動、機知にとんだ取り組み、そして相互の助け合いに多大な敬意を表します。
多くの皆さんと交流し、日本でも過ごした経験から、このような皆さんの資質は私たちを驚かすには至りません。私たちは今までも、さまざまな困難を克服する日本の皆さんの姿を見てきたからです。
私たちの想いと未来への願いは、皆さんと皆さんのご家族やご友人と共にあります。どうぞこれからも皆さんの状況を伝え続けてください。

Dear members of DEAR
Here in York, as everywhere in the UK, we have watched with horror as the news from Japan told us of the earthquake, the tsunami and now, the radiation problems.
We have enormous respect for the dignity, resourcefulness and mutual support of the Japanese people which our media has shown over these past days. Having known many of you and having spent time in Japan, these qualities do not surprise us - we have seen examples of them in less tragic circumstances. Our thoughts and best wishes for the future are with you, your families and friends. Please keep us in touch with your news.
